Jaleesa Smith is dedicated professional with over 7 years of successful experience in youth development, business development, and project coordinating. Jaleesa is a native of Warner Robins, GA where her interest in the youth’s futures developed. She has always played an active role in youth development throughout her life; whether tutoring, coaching, or working as a camp counselor and the after school program at the YMCA. In 2011, Ms. Smith earned her Bachelors in Communications, with a concentration in Public Relations and Advertising with a minor in Business Administration from Savannah State University. In 2013, after receiving her Master’s in Sports Management from Central Michigan University, she acquired various contacts in the sports industry on collegiate and professional level during her stint interning in the Sports Communications Department at Georgia State University and volunteering with the Atlanta Falcons in the Community Relations Department.
Ms. Smith is passionate about making a better situation for less fortunate children. During her time at Savannah State University her passion for the community fostered, where she spent much of her time volunteering with the youth at various after school programs and exposing them to enriching life experiences. Through volunteering with Habitat of Humanity, Hands on Atlanta, and Wilderness Works, Jaleesa gained a thorough understanding that the youth has so much to offer the world with the proper motivation and encouragement. This is where she found her purpose and the need to create ACTS of Atlanta, Inc. In 2015, Ms. Smith co-founded, ACTS Global, Inc. In addition to the nonprofit, Jaleesa is a Business Development Coordinator at Smith, Gambrell and Russell, LLP. Here she has gained valuable knowledge and expanded her network to help further support the mission of ACTS Global, Inc.
Erika Ellis has devoted her personal and professional life ensuring others are the most fulfilled, healthiest versions of themselves through the use of problem solving, person introspection, and coping skills. After receiving her Bachelors of Science in Behavior Analysis and Sociology at Savannah State University, Ms. Ellis began applying all she had learned to different spaces in the counseling world. As a behavioral data specialist, Ms. Ellis has lead, assisted, and participated in treatment sessions with children who have been diagnosed with autism. In 2011, Ms. Ellis took her expertise to a residential treatment facility as a behavior specialist for children who suffered with severe emotional and behavioral issues. As a result of these experiences, Ms. Ellis has expertise in trauma, self-injurious behavior, crisis, and a wide spectrum of behavior and learning disorders. She is well versed in Human Empowerment Leadership Principles (HELP), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Ms. Ellis is also skilled at providing both group counseling and individual consultation; and keeps both cultural competency and confidentiality at the cornerstone of her work.
In 2015, Ms. Ellis co-founded, ACTS Global, Inc. to help positively reshape youth and rebuild underserved low-income communities. In 2016, Ms. Ellis received her Master’s in School Counseling, and a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Contemporary Mental Health Services at Capella University. Ms. Ellis serves as a professional school counselor for middle school children. Ms. Ellis specializes in addressing all students’ academic, career and social/emotional development needs by designing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes and enhances student success. She strives to create an ethically safe space for all cultural and diverse groups. Ms. Ellis understands deeply the power of earning trust through relationship building with children and young adults; which enables them to move towards their goals while feeling heard and supported. Always seeking to learn and teach additional methods, skills, and practices for the clients she commits to serving, Erika Ellis is a Nationally Certified Counselor, Developmental Consultant, and is in the process of obtaining her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision.
Sharon R. Odom is CEO and President at 1st Choice Credit Union, a $23M financial institution, headquartered in downtown Atlanta, GA. Prior to her CEO role at 1st Choice, she worked at Delta Community Credit Union (2002 – 2017) as Vice President Strategic Planning & Performance. In that role she provided leadership for enterprise level project/initiative management and, business intelligence/analytics for senior management decision support, governance reporting and the development/tracking for enterprise level strategic planning.
Sharon is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with an MBA from Georgia State University and a B.S in Accounting from the University of Illinois.
I am a photographer, digital creator, and story teller based out of East Atlanta. I have lived in over 20 countries working with local churches, NGOs and governments to promote health and wellness throughout their respective regions. I have worked on product development and marketing for two US based non-profits. I have also worked in local government as the right hand to a local county commissioner.
Dr. SaDohl Jones is a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in individual and group counseling with women, children & adolescents. With over 10 years of experience as a mental health clinician. Dr. Jones is the owner of Jones Counseling and Consulting, LLC and Atlanta Mental Health & Wellness Center, LLC. Dr. Jones is also a Counselor Educator with extensive experience training future mental health counselors, school counselors, and counselor educators. Dr. Jones is passionate about Community and Civic Engagement, as well as economic development for marginalized populations. She is currently active in multiple community organizations, including Junior League of DeKalb County, Inc., Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., and Leadership Georgia (Class of 2017). Dr. Jones has founded two non-profit organization for Butterfli Project, Inc and Purple Hearts, Inc both focused on empowering young girls and women respectively.
